Bio

Billie J is a he not a she. He spent his childhood bent over a sheet of paper with a pencil in one hand and a glass of lemonade in the other. Drawing was an escape from the world, but also a way

of making sense of it. At the age of 16 and while still at school, he had his first illustration published in The Sunday Times newspaper.

He went on to study at Central St. Martins and now lives and works

in East London.

Billie J creates his eclectic work through the use of biros,

Indian ink, Photoshop and a capacious imagination.

He won a Type Directors award for his collaboration with the design agency Why Not Associates for the BBC Radio 4’s Today programme and was selected for Taschen’s international 100 Illustrators.
